Despite being highly reliable in the most challenging and
rough and tough conditions, HP printers may still create problems and deny
functioning properly. And you know that problems always occur at the times when
you need your device the most. Look into the common problems below and see the
self-help guide to resolve the issues on your own.
Offline Printer - Power off the computer and printer and
disconnect their power cords from the power outlet. Also unplug the printer
from the computer. Now, plug back the power cable back into the computer and
power it on. Also connect the printer back to the power cable but don't turn it
on. Connect the printer back to the computer and then power it on. The computer
will detect the printer and it will be ready to use.
Printer doesn't print- Check the paper tray that it is not
out of paper. Check if you recently made changes to your printer settings. If
you did, then restore the settings to resolve the problem. Ensure that your
recently installed firewall or anti-virus program not interfering with the
printer.
If it is wireless printer, check your connection settings.
If these are ok, then check that you have assigned a static IP address to your
printer. If there is no static IP address, then assign one as your printer
might look for new IP address every time you turn it on.
Missing/corrupted drivers- If you recently upgraded to newer
Windows versions such as XP/Vista/7, you certainly need new printer driver for
your printer to work. Drivers are applications that establish communication
between Windows and the hardware (any hardware viz. printer, modem, router
etc.).
If the driver is faulty or corrupted then replace it by
downloading and installing a new, compatible one. Also, regularly update
drivers for smooth functioning of printers. You can download and update drivers
from your manufacturer's website or simply run Windows Update to check if new
updates are available to download.
Paper jams- A very common issue with all the printers, paper
jams occur frequently due to several reasons such as dirt inside the printer,
damaged paper roller, or wrong type of paper is used etc. Clean the printer
with a soft, dry cloth and if possible keep it in a dirt-free or clean area.
Always use the right type of paper and any problem occurring because of this
reason would be resolved.
